Learn more about the non-profit organizations that are ready to serve North Texas when disaster strikes!
About MCTFThe Mass Care Task Force (MCTF) is a collaboration between the American Red Cross North Texas Region, the Salvation Army DFW Metroplex Command, the North Texas Food Bank, and VolunteerNow. The collaborative effort was established in 2006 in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita to maximize the disaster-related services provided by the four nonprofit agencies.
Governmental organizations are charged with the protection of life, limb and property during major disasters. That’s why the MCTF was created. We address humanitarian needs resulting from major disasters. We are activated only when a catastrophic disaster occurs that affects 250,000 individuals and 37,500 need shelter. In times of disaster, MCTF supports immediate food, shelter, volunteers, communication and management. Each organization’s primary disaster responsibilities relate to their general areas of expertise. VolunteerNow recruits and assigns volunteers needed to assist in mass care relief efforts, the American Red Cross recruits and trains volunteers to manage shelter operations, the North Texas Food Bank provides food and drink, and the Salvation Army prepares and serves meals. |
